Australian transport and logistics giant Linfox has announced a historic order of battery-electric trucks.
The order of 30 electric models from Volvo marks the largest order to date for battery-electric trucks in Australia.

The order, announced on the opening day of the Brisbane Truck Show, coincides with Volvo revealing it will produce heavy duty electric trucks in its Wacol facility in Brisbane from next year.
“Linfox is excited to partner with Volvo in driving the future and leading sustainable logistics in Australia. Further electrifying our fleet sets the standard for us and our customers and the entire industry,” Linfox executive chairman Peter Fox AM says.
This means electric Volvo trucks will be built in five factories – three in Europe, one in the US and one in Australia.
Linfox’s order includes 29 Volvo FH Electric trucks and one FM Electric, with the operator also ordering a total of 195 Volvo FH and FM trucks with conventional drivelines.

“Our commitment to start building electric trucks in Australia demonstrates our confidence in this technology, and means we can offer an industry-leading range of purpose-built electric trucks all around the world.”
The order coincides with Volvo’s delivery of 10 heavy duty electric trucks to Linfox, representing part of the massive 30 truck order.
Ten of the electric trucks in the landmark order will carry the Australian Made label, positioning Volvo at the forefront of creating a new electric truck manufacturing sector in Australia, tailored to the country’s unique heavy transport needs and conditions.
Linfox has already successfully trialled Volvo electric trucks, beginning with two vehicles in 2021 and expanding to four in 2023.
This milestone delivery and announcement is being celebrated at Linfox’s Willawong site in Brisbane.
