Lindsay Australia actions preventative COVID-19 measures

National transport and logistics company, Lindsay Australia, is rolling out voluntary COVID-19 testing for its staff.

The move is seen by the company as a further preventative measure to keep its employees safe and working, while also ensuring the safety of its customers and the general public.

The testing will be carried out onsite at the company’s Melbourne and Sydney facilities and at a dedicated testing facility close to the company’s Acacia Ridge (QLD) premises.

According to Lindsay Australia Manager Safety, People, Culture and Communications, Melissa Strong, the testing has been initiated to ensure the safety of Lindsay’s essential workers – particularly the drivers required to cross borders and enter virus hotspots – as well as other staff members, their families and the general public.

“This is the latest in a range of measures we have been taking to keep our staff, customers and the general public safe,” said Strong. “We have been fumigating the truck cab interiors and office spaces with hospital grade disinfectant which remains effective at killing bacteria for one month.

“We have also supplied our drivers with packs which include anti-bacterial wipes, face masks, gloves and other personal protective equipment to help them stay COVID-free.”

Strong said the COVID-19 testing will be offered on a voluntary basis by qualified testers for all staff at its Melbourne and Sydney depots and for its Queensland-based interstate drivers after they have returned from the southern states, and particularly those who have visited known hotspots.

“It’s a challenging time for everyone and with no clear end in sight, so we want to be on the front foot in providing every preventative measure available to us in the interests of keeping our staff, their families, our customers and the general public safe,” she said.
