Kalari has announced the acquisition of Bullbuck, a specialised contract bulk haulage company based in Port Hedland, Western Australia.
The acquisition is part of Kalari’s expansion plan in the specialised bulk haulage and resources industry and will add some 40 quad road trains to the Kalari fleet.
According to Kalari, the Bullbuck business is a highly respected, high-quality operation, built up by the Buckley family over many years. It can boast extensive workshop, accommodation and depot facilities which will help expand Kalari's presence in the west of Australia.
Kalari currently has two operations in WA, at Geraldton in the Mid-West and Rockingham south of Perth. The acquisition of Bullbuck now enables the business to expand into the resource rich region of the North West and provides access to new customers and operations.
Bullbuck currently operates a fleet of 32 quad road trains and ancillary equipment which will be acquired as part of the transaction. The total road train fleet will be increased to 40 by mid-2014. All Bullbuck employees were invited to transfer to Kalari.
“The acquisition of the Bullbuck operations in Port Hedland is pivotal in Kalari’s progression as a key player in the specialised bulk logistics space. The quality of the business and the people involved is a credit to the Buckley family and provides Kalari with an ideal start in the region,” said Kalari’s Managing Director Peter O’Shannessy.
