Trucking identity and Managing Director of Heavy Haulage Australia (HHA), Jon Kelly, has taken delivery of a 685-horsepower Mack Titan. While the new truck was built for Jon himself, he also ordered an additional of 40 Macks to join the HHA fleet in 2014 and 2015.
“[This is] the largest number of trucks to be purchased in a single order by any heavy haulage company in the country,” said Kelly, who stars in the Australian television show MegaTruckers.
“I take pride in having the best presented trucks in the country and I like my fleet to be nice, shiny and reliable – that’s why I chose a Mack. Having VCV Brisbane close to our head office is also convenient,” he said.
“The trucks are built right here in Brisbane by local employees, so I know they have been designed to handle Australia’s extreme conditions.”
Kelly said despite being at the helm of one of Australia’s largest transport companies, he still loved to get behind the wheel and back to where it all started. “I started HHA with one Mack truck in 1999 and have watched it grow over the years. We now have more than 70 trucks in our fleet and employ 140 people,” the 33-year-old explained.
“I still buy a new truck for myself every five years and like to give them all their own identity,” said Kelly. “Titans are tough trucks and my new truck, which I’ve named Big Dog 5, is no exception.”
Vice President Sales – Mack Trucks, Dean Bestwick said Mr Kelly’s personal order of Big Dog 5 proved that Mack trucks were “at the forefront” of the Australian trucking industry.
“You know you’re at the top of the game when the owner of one of Australia’s most successful transport company’s continually chooses one of your trucks for his personal use,” he said.
Series two of MegaTruckers will commence filming soon.
