International air cargo road feeder, JETS Transport, has celebrated 16 years in partnership with Qantas with the first of nine new Scania R 590 prime movers.
The Euro 6 rated trucks from the Scania SUPER range will join the JETS fleet over the coming few weeks.
As well as numerous safety features, the Scania ‘R’ series has a premium cabin designed for long haulage which will provide more comfort for the JETS driver teams while travelling across the country.
Established in 1992, the JETS business was purchased by Qantas Freight Enterprises in May 2008.
It now operates as a wholly owned but independently managed operation.
“It’s exciting to see the progress we’ve made, with Qantas investing to replace our prime mover fleet,” said Deborah Eddington, JETS Transport National Manager.
“The trucks feature the latest Euro 6 emission technology, are bio-diesel compatible and significantly more fuel efficient, with increased engine performance and reliability,” she said.
“The new trucks can reduce carbon emissions by up to 80 per cent.”
In Australia, Scania has recently made it possible to place orders for the OEM’s 40-tonne autonomous heavy tipper for mining.
