Iveco joins Yamaha Motocross Factory Racing Team

Iveco has joined the Yamaha Motocross/Supercross Factory Racing Team – four times winner of the Australian National title – providing a Stralis prime mover to tow the team’s custom built workshop and accommodation trailer around the country.

“Our Iveco Stralis transporter is the complete package. When we arrive at the event our custom-built trailer, with three internal levels, houses all of our spare parts, a comprehensive workshop, kitchen and sleeping area, as well as up to 10 motorcycles,” says Craig Dack, principal of Craig Dack Racing, which has run Yamaha Australia’s off-road motorcycle campaign for the past 20 years. “We also have a 15 x 6 metre annexe with walls that attach to the transporter which becomes our pit area for the duration of the event.”

According to Craig, most other motor sport racing teams use their transporters purely to carry the vehicles and equipment to an event and then set up in a permanent garage area.

Craig Dack Racing covers more than 50,000 km each year travelling between its base in Geelong and 15 to 18 competition sites. The Stralis AS-L the team uses to cover these distances is one of the latest in a long line of trucks that has been built at the Iveco manufacturing plant in Dandenong, Victoria.

“It’s like a home away from home, with its double bunk giving us additional accommodation for two, as an adjunct to the sleeping compartment in the trailer,” says Craig.
