Since the 2012 ITTES was officially launched in March, exhibitors old and new have been keen to secure their place at the 19 hectare Melbourne Showgrounds site, which will house over 400 exhibitors for the duration of the event.
Truck manufacturers were quick to book their places, with all truck manufacturers and over 50 trailer manufacturers confirming their attendance less than a month after spaces were released – many quickly rebooked their space from last year, while others sought bigger exhibition spaces to showcase their large and diverse range of vehicles.
The addition of three newly constructed buildings at the Showgrounds have resulted in an additional 4500 square metres of exhibition space. Located behind the Grand Pavilion, these large undercover spaces are ideal for large vehicles and equipment – hence, they were quickly secured by three leading truck manufacturers.
“Demand for exhibition space for the 2012 ITTES has been overwhelming, and more than 80 percent of this space has already been allocated. We have also held exhibition pricing from last year’s event, making it the most cost effective event to participate in, in Australia,” says ITTES Show Director Clint Hendry. “In past years, the event has always been well attended by the majority of key industry players. Next year, we expect this to reach a whole new level.”
To cope with the increasing demand for the upcoming show, the ITTES team has also been expanded. “The ITTES is the largest dedicated road transport show in the southern hemisphere, more than doubling the size of any other event in Australia, and the team is well prepared to continue growing the event well into the future,” explains Clint.
All previous sponsors have again resigned for 2012, with several new partners coming on board.
The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) is one such sponsor that is delighted to be back on board. “Melbourne has been the logistics hub of Australia for over 100 years,” says VTA CEO Philip Lovel. “It is fitting that it also hosts the premier truck and trailer show in the country. Innovation has been the key to success for Australian freight operators, and this show highlights just what the industry can do to lead the world in ideas that save the customer money and also lift the bar in terms of safety. The VTA is a sponsor and a foundation supporter of this great event.”
Leading sports radio station 1116 SEN will continue its support of the show, with Triple M also coming on board. Live radio broadcasts by 1116 SEN during every day of the show last year were warmly received by show visitors and fans of the radio station. This tradition will continue in 2012.
And although the 12 month promotional campaign for the 2010 ITTES was the largest road transport campaign ever staged, the lead up to the 2012 event it set to reach a whole new level. The new campaign is targeted towards all sectors of the Australian road transport industry as well as specific training and education groups. It will utilise several high quality trade magazines, specifically targeted direct mail campaigns, website promotions, daily press and radio advertising and for the first time, will include television advertising. This will be combined with a 200+ page show catalogue containing information on each and every stand, that will be mailed to over 50,000 people.
The first two instalments of ITTES have been extremely successful, however organisers of the event are working overtime on some new show attractions that will take the event to the next level. When we asked show organisers what new developments they had in store, Clint commented, “Stay tuned for some exciting announcements over the coming months.”
