Isuzu NNR 45-150 AMT Vanpack

As the leading truck selling brand in Australia for the past 28 years, Isuzu Australia Limited has invested extensive thought and engineering nous towards providing agile, economical and powerful vehicles to handle congested urban centres.

If you were to learn about Australia purely by watching some of the country's most popular films, such as Crocodile Dundee or Red Dog, you could be forgiven for thinking the bulk of Australia’s population resided in bush or rural settings.

The reality is that Australia is one of the most urbanised nations, with 88.9 per cent living in urban areas compared to 82 per cent in the US and 56 per cent in China. Just as we have a tendency to view Australian film through the lens of rural life, sometimes in the trucking industry we forget that not every vehicle is an interstate hauler, traversing the nation’s vast network of highways.

A look at the current transport environment reveals that, while articulated and rigid trucks dominate in terms of tonnes carried, light commercial vehicles dominate when looking at kilometres travelled, counting for 72.5 per cent of the total.

These 2.7 million light commercial vehicles are required to handle freight’s ‘final mile’ as they journey into metropolitan hubs, where 80 per cent of the nation’s economic activity occurs.

The boom in online shopping and global trade has changed the traditional delivery model, prompting a renewed investment in, and focus on, business to consumer supply chains. Rather than going from manufacturer to warehouse to brick and mortar shops to consumer, many companies are delivering directly to customers.

The latest addition to this roster is the Isuzu NNR 45-150 AMT Vanpack from the N Series Ready to Work range, which offers a terrific solution to this modern conundrum.

The Vanpack, which can be driven on a passenger car licence, boasts a GVM of 4,500 kg and 110 kW at 2,800 rpm and 375 Nm at 1,600-2,800 rpm – all with Isuzu’s economical 4JJ1-TCS engine and a turning circle of 11.8m that outpoints most vans in its weight class as well as some below.

The 18.5m3 body features four mounting points per side, double rear barn doors, rear grab handles and non-slip rear steps. It also has LED clearance lights and an interior work light. The body has also been designed for easy fitment of a rear electro-hydraulic tailgate loader, to help lift and lower goods.

The NNR 45-150 AMT Vanpack was unveiled in May at the Brisbane Truck Show and is currently available from Isuzu dealerships across Australia, joining the ranks of the Isuzu N Series models, providing trucks perfectly specc’d for the changing nature of Australian freight.
