The Australian team competing in the 2015 Isuzu World Technical Competition has been announced.
Ty Jenkins of Isuzu Westar, Campbellfield in Victoria, has been announced as the overall winner of the Isuzu Truck National Technical Skills Competition, held in Melbourne last week. The win means Jenkins will represent Isuzu Australia and the Australian Isuzu Truck Dealer Network at the international event to be held at the Manufacturing Service Training Centre, in Fujisawa, Japan, on Wednesday, 4 November.
He will be joined by national runner-up Travis De Lorenzo of North East Isuzu in South Australia and team Coach and Isuzu’s Technical and Fleet Manager Victoria and Tasmania, Peter Sherry. “I’m impressed with the level of technicians coming through this year and I’m seeing a vast improvement year to year,” Sherry said.
IAL National Training Manager, David Smith, said the International competition was of an extremely high standard, but he has confidence in local abilities. “In recent years the Australian team has been a real force to be reckoned with, taking out the runner-up position last year,” he said. “It is a great honour for Isuzu Australia to once again be invited to compete in this international event and I’m sure Ty and Travis will be great ambassadors for the organisation and our broader dealer network.”
Now in its 10th year, the annual Isuzu World Technical Competition brings together Isuzu's most accomplished service technicians from all over the world. The competition is comprised of a series of tests covering mechanical measuring, a practical assembly exercise as well as electrical diagnostics, practical repair tests, a vehicle inspection and systems management diagnosis. The teams also undergo an intensive written exam covering general and Isuzu-specific technical product knowledge.
