Isuzu FSD 700 provides winning combination for horse trainer

Horse trainer Bede Murray, proprietor of Murray Racing, recently purchased two Isuzu FSD 700 featuring airbag rear suspension trucks to house the floats to transport his horses.

Murray established the business with his wife over 50 years ago and is based at his main facility at Kembla Grange south of Wollongong, New South Wales, where the company has over 100 horses with 18 staff including his sons Paul and Graeme.

Murray Racing’s service is tailored for thoroughbreds and has produced a string of winners. They comprise race horse training, stud work, breeding and hiring agistment and ‘spelling’.
According to Murray, Isuzu trucks have made a good impression on the company.

“This is my second Isuzu horse float. When it was time to upgrade to a larger vehicle, we knew that the Isuzu FSD 700 was the truck for us as we never had any problems with our first Isuzu,” he said.
The 7.3 metre horse float design is a good fit for the Isuzu FSD 700.

“I wanted something that would suit the needs of the horses and be adaptable for any type of situation,” he said. “We had the truck body interior fitted with individual rubber padded stalls to cater for up to nine horses.

“For extra flexibility, the float is equipped with specially designed partitions that can be adjusted depending on the horses’ size,” he said.

The FSD 700 is also equipped with a passenger area behind the cab the strappers to travelling with the horses and plenty of storage for the racing gear.

According to Bede, the new truck drives effortlessly on the road. “The truck handles hills and steep inclines with ease, even with nine horses in the back of the float,” he said.
