In total, Isuzu plans to display around 15 trucks in its indoor space and another three trucks at its outdoor site. This will be the manufacturer’s third time in this same exhibition space. “At these sorts of shows, people tend to get used to coming to where you are so it’s great to be able to continue exhibiting from the same space. It is also undercover so won't be affected by rain or bad weather and is centrally located as it is near one of the main entry gates,” says Isuzu Sales Promotions Manager, Selwyn Harris.
“Isuzu sees the Melbourne show as very important. For many years, Melbourne didn’t have its own industry show, so when the ITTES came along, it was a welcome change.”
Selwyn explains that the trucks that will be shown on the stand are those that the company continues to sell to its customers every day. Several Isuzu staff will be on hand at the Isuzu stand, as well as a number of dealer personnel from Melbourne and regional Victoria.
“In our kind of market, shows like this allow us to show people our brand. One in every three trucks sold in Australia is manufactured by Isuzu, so we do have a pretty big market base out there, but the ITTES also gives non-Isuzu customers an opportunity to look at our trucks without having to go to a dealer,” says Selwyn.
“As the market leader, it’s important for Isuzu to be at the ITTES. For our dealers, it’s a chance to catch up with customers and maybe meet a few new customers along the way.
“Last year, the leads were good. I think this show is productive – if it wasn’t productive or economically viable, we wouldn’t be there time after time. I think the ITTES is making steady changes each time, so it will be interesting to see what’s in store for 2012.
“The key to success in this market is to have a great product and a great dealer network and we can say that we have arguably the best dealer network in Australia with nearly 60 locations Australia wide where you can buy an Isuzu truck or get it serviced. What we always tell our customers is that when you buy an Isuzu, you’re not just buying the metal because our Isuzu Care program looks after the interests of the customer throughout the life of the truck.”
