The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) has now included mobile cranes using the NSW road network in the Intelligent Access Program (IAP). GPS tracking through IAP was implemented in Victoria when the IAP was first introduced into the state, the RTA’s move has now made this possible in NSW.
IAP will be applied to mobile cranes classified as ‘high risk’ and operating under higher mass limits (HML). Already, transport operators wanting their vehicles to operate under HML must be enrolled in the IAP program.
Mobile crane operators will have three months to enroll in the IAP, beginning 27 June.
