HydroChem has acquired Western Australian chemical manufacturer, Environex, bringing together two long-established family businesses in a move that expands national manufacturing and storage capacity.
The sale, completed in early February, sees the national water specialist purchase the Perth-based company, which manufactures chemicals for industry, food and beverage, mining and stone care markets.
Environex, a privately held Australian-owned business with more than 50 years of trading history, will continue to operate independently. The company will maintain its branded product lines and manufacturing operations in Perth, Brisbane and Bunbury.
HydroChem CEO, Nick Duncan, said the cultural alignment between the two businesses was a key driver behind the deal.
“Environex is a family business with a culture similar to our own,” said Duncan.
“Bringing the two teams together will complement rather than replicate what we already do. HydroChem’s manufacturing capacity, national service responsiveness and industrial client base are all major beneficiaries of this move.”
The combined entity will operate four dangerous goods manufacturing facilities and eight dangerous goods storage sites across Australia, employing more than 300 staff and generating annual turnover in excess of $80 million.
Duncan said the acquisition strengthens national coverage while reducing the logistics burden of supplying chemicals into both metropolitan and regional markets.
HydroChem, established in 1977, provides commercial water services to more than 8,300 sites nationwide. The acquisition further broadens its manufacturing footprint and industrial client base while maintaining Environex’s established brand presence, particularly in Western Australia.
