How COPE succeeded in sensitive freight

With the multi-billion dollar electronics market growing exponentially around the globe, transport businesses specialising in shock-sensitive freight are currently in high demand.

Transporting anything from the latest iPhone through to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines that can be worth a seven-digit figure each, they have created a niche market where exceptional freight handling skill and highly advanced transport equipment combine.

One of the most prominent businesses in this highly specialised industry segment is Sydney’s COPE Sensitive Freight.

Established in 1989 with the growing consumer electronics market in mind, it has grown to employ some 570 staff and can boast facilities in the capital cities as well as regional centres like Albury, Tamworth and Cairns.

With more than 500 pieces of equipment on the road, it is now larger in size than many a traditional transport company, but still very much dedicated to sensitive cargo – with much of the workload still coming in via word-of-mouth recommendations.

“We are the largest transport logistics supplier in the sensitive freight niche,” says Patrick Lee, COPE Sensitive Freight’s Commercial Projects Manager.

“As such, we pride ourselves on having the right people and the right tools to complete even the most sensitive freight task. We have sensitive freight specific equipment that it is well maintained and presented … and provide specific solutions that deliver for our customers.”
