Hino at Tokyo Motor Show

The success of Hino’s 300 Hybrid model in Australia was one of the most talked about topics on the brand’s stand at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Although the display model was a US specification vehicle, people attending the show were reminded that Australia is one of the most successful hybrid markets for the brand.

Also on show was a 700 series 8×4 mining dump truck with a GVM of 50 tonnes. Aimed at the mining industry, the dumper uses a 13-litre engine similar to the Hino 700 models available in Australia today.

In Tokyo, Hino also celebrated the world premiere of the Hino light-duty commercial EV goods vehicle. The light truck has a front-wheel drive system powered by a compact electric power train and features an ultra-low-floor layout, which has been realized by housing the battery under the floor.

Hino’s motor sport achievements were represented by a Hino 500 Series rally truck. The Hino team has a record of 22 consecutive finishes from 22 starts in the Dakar Rally since its first entry in 1991.
