Hella unveils the first LED truck headlamp

Automotive lighting expert Hella has revealed the first LED headlamp for commercial vehicles at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show held recently in Hanover, Germany.

According to Hella, the new LED headlamp is designed to withstand the rigors of day to day, round the clock operation. The low beam light intensity of the LED headlamp will mean the light color resembles daytime, allowing drivers to rely on more natural vision.

The 21-watt power consumption of the new LED represents a saving of 49 watts compared to a conventional filament-bulb solution.

Hella says company research has shown daytime light contrasts better and prevents driver fatigue due to the natural light distribution on the road and its surrounding environment. The company says the LED also contributes significantly to reducing CO2 emissions.
