Heather Jones bringing Australian know-how to Canada

Australia’s own Heather Jones will be speaking at the Women with Drive summit in Toronto, Canada, in March.

A veteran heavy vehicle driver with over 25 years of experience and the driving force behind heavy vehicle driving academy, Pilbara Heavy Haulage Girls (PHHG), Jones will reflect on the changing road transport market and share insights into her approach to solving some of the industry’s more broad-based, structural issues.

Jones will be speaking alongside Vibeke Theisel, a professional truck driver from Denmark who came to the industry after spending five years in nursing; Jenny Tipping, a professional Competence (CPC) Trainer and heavy vehicle driver from England; New Zealand’s Meryn Morrison, the Chair of Women in Road Transport for New Zealand, and Elin Engström, a professional truck driver and test driving coordinator from Sweden.

“This panel provides a unique learning opportunity and new perspectives for the trucking industry,” commented Angela Splinter, CEO of hosting organization, Trucking HR Canada.

“Other countries face similar challenges in recruiting the workers they need, and having these five women join us to share their experiences is an exciting opportunity.”
