NTC Chairman, Greg Martin PSM, was awarded the prestigious 2010 Transport Medal by Engineers Australia at the Annual Australian Roads Summit in Brisbane.
On behalf of the Commission and industry, NTC Chief Executive, Nick Dimopoulo,s congratulated Mr Martin on the award. “Greg is a very deserving recipient of the 2010 Transport Medal. HE is a dedicated and professional Chair of our board. We are very privileged to have someone of Greg’s standing and experience within our organisation,” said Mr Dimopoulos.
Spanning over 40 years, Greg Martin’s experience goes beyond the NTC to roles within the Western Australian and Commonwealth governments in various areas including policy, research and operations.
“I commend Greg for the leadership he shows on national transport issues and for his long standing commitment to the transport industry,” said Mr Dimopoulos.
NTC Chairman since 2008, Mr Martin said that the chance to contribute to transport reforms which make a significant difference to the community motivated him to join the NTC. “At the NTC you get to work on the front line of complex national issues. It’s incredibly rewarding working collaboratively with our industry and government partners across the reform lifecycle to bring about positive changes,” said Mr Martin.

The Transport Medal is presented biennially and seeks to reward and recognise outstanding individual contributions to transport in Australia on the basis of a number of criteria. These include at least 10 years distinguished service, professional reputation, excellence and relevance to Australian transport and national and international influence. Individuals for the award are nominated by state panels and branches of Engineers Australia and Engineers Australia’s National Committee on Transport.
