Good reception for new Ultrashift

The recently launched Eaton Ultrashift PLUS automated transmission has been well received on the US truck market. Its reception has prompted Kenworths in the US to offer the new gearbox as an option on all of their heavy-duty trucks, according to an announcement made at the recent Mid-America Trucking Show.

“Fleets are increasingly interested in automated transmissions,” said Jason Skoog, Kenworth Director of Marketing, Planning and Research in the USA. “The new electronic clutch actuation technology in the Eaton Ultrashift will not only benefit our on highway customers, but also those operating Kenworth T800 and W900 trucks in construction and other vocational applications.”
The new gearboxes were introduced last year, bringing the latest electronic clutch actuation system to one of the largest selling gearboxes in both the US and Australia. By going to a two pedal transmission, Eaton has developed its control systems to a point where it can match some of the market leading European transmissions currently available.
