With a fortnight to go until the inaugural Improving Heavy Vehicle Road Safety Summit in Melbourne, the Australian Road Transport Suppliers’ Association (ARTSA) has unveiled the name of an internationally acclaimed keynote speaker to join the line-up.
Representing the Swedish Transport Agency, Anders Gunneriusson (pictured) is the Chair of the United Nations working group that focuses on the harmonisation of requirements on modular vehicles and thereby directly involved in the global heavy vehicle law-making process.
A second international guest will be Martin Reinbach, Managing Director of Hella New Zealand, a company that has gained global renown for the design and manufacture of energy efficient LED lighting technology for the road transport market.
Recognising that heavy vehicle road safety is driven by regulation and technology alike, ARTSA also announced that Moama-based tanker expert, Byford Equipment, will support the event as a session sponsor.
The family-owned business has been at the forefront of designing and fabricating stainless steel transport equipment since 1977 and is renowned throughout Australia’s commercial road transport industry for its productivity, service and innovative high-tech equipment – including its game-changing Performance-Based Standards approved 26m A-double and 20m AB-double combinations that were introduced in 2014.
“We have a duty of care to the transport industry and our goal at the Summit will be provide further education to the audience on the benefits of our MAXLESS technology that focuses on maximum payload, maximum manoeuvrability, less axles and less turning circle,” said Byford Compliance Officer, Chris Nisbet.
“Our presentation not only focuses on the equipment that we build, but on the current compliance issues facing the industry at present, and what our technology can do to help improve those standards.”
