Followmont Transport provides practical assistance

Queensland’s Followmont Transport has been commended for its practical assistance to the relief efforts for the Philippines following the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan.

Balikbayan Australia is a Townsville-based company that specialises in the delivery of small consignments between Australia and the Philippines, and in recent days, it has been very active organising the collection and transportation of relief supplies to the areas affected by the super storm.

Its director, Brian Longley, commended Followmont’s Townsville operations manager Jason Luther and his team for the donation of their time and transportation services to move flat packs of cartons from Mackay up to Cairns.

The cartons will be used to pack and ship items for the relief of the communities devastated by the typhoon.

Followmont said that the company was always happy to lend a hand to those in need and that it was proud of its Townsville depot stepping up and demonstrating the values that the Followmont company holds.

Followmont Transport employs over 650 staff and runs a fleet of more than 600 vehicles throughout Queensland, operating from 19 Company owned depot and is considered the largest independently owned transport company in Queensland.
