Two 600hp Volvo FH16 prime movers have joined the fast-expanding Followmont Transport fleet.

The FH16s will join Followmont Transport’s Performance-Based Standards (PBS) fleet, where they will pull quad quad 42-pallet trailer combinations and A-double trailers.

The new prime movers follow the fleet’s new set of UD Quons last month.

Followmont Transport COO, Ross Longmire, told Prime Mover the Volvos will give Followmont Transport even more capability.

“The FH16s are equipped with state-of-the-art safety features, making them a perfect fit for our PBS fleet,” he said.

“The safety of our drivers is our priority, so when purchasing equipment, we work with our suppliers to secure the best suited products.”

The Volvos are equipped with the latest safety features, including Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Support and a front monitoring camera on the passenger side to improve blind spot visibility.

“Our drivers have embraced the Volvo prime movers, praising their performance, comfort, and reliability,” Longmire said.

This latest delivery sees Followmont house 41 Volvo trucks across its network.

With the new FH16 units now in place, Followmont Transport is expecting an additional six prime movers to join the fleet early next year.

Followmont Transport Managing Director, Mark Tobin, told Prime Mover the new additions represent the company’s commitment to modernising and enhancing its fleet.

“Our continued investment in our equipment demonstrates our dedication to safety, fuel efficiency, and the satisfaction of our drivers,” he said.

Followmont Transport’s $15 million-plus capex on fleet growth for 2023 is evident of this.

“The new Volvo prime movers excel in fuel efficiency, aligning with our company’s commitment to sustainability,” Tobin said.

“We aim to deliver the safest, most efficient, and reliable transportation solutions to our clients and believe that by investing in the latest technology and the best vehicles, we can exceed our customers’ expectations.”
