Flood assistance fact sheets

Following the floods that have swept through Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria; the Australian, Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian governments will provide assistance to small trucking businesses that have been affected. New fact sheets released by the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) detail the assistance that will be made available.

The Australian Government has announced a Disaster Income Recovery Subsidy of around $500 per fortnight for employees and small business operators who live in or derive an income from a flood affected area and have lost their income as a result of the floods.

The NSW and Queensland governments have announced grant schemes for small businesses that have directly suffered damage to their premises and
equipment as a result of the floods.

The Victorian Government has established a grant scheme for small businesses that have directly suffered damage to their premises and equipment. Last week, the Government increased the maximum grant from $15,000 to $25,000.

The Australian Government has announced these grants will be tax exempt.

To be eligible for assistance, those affected are required to show evidence supporting the claimed loss of income (ie. pay slips, bank statements, a letter from an employer or
customer, BAS statements or other account documents showing your cash flow).
