First 300 Series ‘Cruiser supplied to Aussie customer

Toyota Australia has completed the first customer delivery of the all-new LandCruiser 300 Series, marking the start of retail sales of the latest iteration of the legendary 4×4 wagon.

Thanks to the resumption of right-hand drive LandCruiser production in Japan in November, vehicles have started trickling into Australia to fulfil customer orders.

Prior to this, examples of the 300 Series were only available to be test driven at Dealerships to support the launch of the new model in early October.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said Toyota appreciated the patience that customers have shown as the company managed the supply chain challenges caused by COVID-19.

“We would like to thank our customers for their understanding – it has been a challenging few months, with COVID-19 causing production stoppages in Japan and elsewhere across the region,” said Hanley.

“We are pleased to announce that with Toyota’s production in Japan restored to normal levels in December, LandCruisers are now starting to land in Australia ready to be delivered to their new owners.”

Hanley said Toyota Dealers have the latest information on customers’ individual orders and expected delivery timing.

The all-new LandCruiser 300 Series is offered in the core grades of GX, GXL, VX and Sahara, with two new flagships – the luxury Sahara ZX and off-road-focused GR Sport.

All models and grades are punched by a new 3.3-litre dual-turbo V6 diesel powerhouse that delivers an impressive 227kW of power and 700Nm of torque – trumping by a considerable margin the outputs of the venerable V8 it replaces – permanently driving all wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The stylish yet robust new body structure is undergirded by a new body-on-frame Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform that Toyota said delivers greater rigidity, improved ride comfort and superb dynamic handling both on- and off-road.

According to Toyota, it also features an array of electronic assistance technologies to help ensure the 300 Series is the safest and most capable LandCruiser ever.
