Italy-based logistics provider, FERCAM has integrated the first fully electric truck in its Serbia operations.
Four electric vehicles are already in operation at the company’s Bolzano headquarters. FERCAM is taking a significant step towards sustainable and environmentally responsible transport in Serbia and across the Balkan region, in alignment with its slogan ‘We don’t wait for change, we drive it’.
The vehicle chosen for this first phase is the eActros 600, a new-generation truck designed for long-haul transport.
With a range of up to 500 km on a single charge and fast-charging capability, reaching 80 per cent in less than one hour, it represents a concrete solution for launching transport operations with zero direct CO₂ emissions, even in markets where charging infrastructure is still developing.
FERCAM Serbia uses the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric tractor unit for goods distribution within Belgrade and on the Belgrade–Novi Sad–Belgrade route.
During the vehicle’s recent travels of about 10,000 kilometres, FERCAM estimates it saved more than 3.5 tonnes of CO₂eq compared with an equivalent diesel vehicle. With its fully electric drive, the truck produces no direct CO₂ emissions during operation. The introduction of the e-truck is part of the Emission Free Project.
FERCAM has incorporated this project into operations via fleet electrification, the adoption of alternative fuels such as Bio-LNG and HVO, and the improvement of energy efficiency across its facilities.
Bringing this strategy to Serbia means operating in a more challenging environment for the company, with developing infrastructure and an evolving regulatory framework.
With a transport capacity of up to 33 euro pallets, the eActros 600 offers a high-capacity electric alternative for regional distribution flows, combining operational efficiency with a lower environmental impact during use.
Drivers assigned to the vehicle completed dedicated training on safety procedures, driving techniques and high-voltage charging operations.
FERCAM said it continues to invest in innovative solutions, such as electric trucks, to support companies in developing decarbonised supply chains, through tailored and measurable pathways.
