An upcoming program will showcase diversity champions in the trucking industry in a bid to encourage new entrants into the workforce.
The 2023 Teletrac Navman Driving Change Diversity Program is reported to be a ground-breaking initiative and will include the filming of participant stories in their workplace, industry marketing and promotional campaigning and a diversity workshop and participation in Trucking Australia 2023 from 28-31 March 2023.
Attendees will reportedly learn how to create change and facilitate diversity in their workplace and community as well as develop a strong professional network with like-minded individuals.
“Diversity can be identified along the dimensions of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities and religious beliefs, and has proven benefits in the workplace,” Teletrac Navman Director of Marketing – Australasia, Megan Duncan, and Australian Trucking Association (ATA) Chair, David Smith, said in a joint statement.
“The proven benefits include increased productivity and competitive advantages, as well as having access to a greater range of talent.”
To participate in the 2023 Teletrac Navman Driving Change Diversity Program one must be involved as an owner or employee in a trucking business that is a financial member of an ATA association or is a TruckSafe accredited operator. A participant, according to Duncan and Smith, could also be a direct member of an ATA association that offers individual membership. Also, participants must be nominated by their ATA association or TruckSafe.
In other news, last year, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) approved the inclusion of Advanced Fatigue Management (AFM) rulesets into the Teletrac Navman and Hubfleet Electronic Work Diary (EWD) systems.
