Daimler Trucks upgrades Atego

Daimler Trucks has announced an upgrade to the Mercedes-Benz Atego, a lightweight short-radius distribution truck in the 6.5 to 16 tonnes GVWR segment.

According to Daimler, the new version of the Atego will be available with four newly designed BlueTec 6 four-cylinder engines, which will all meet the upcoming Euro VI emissions standard.

“These engines … use Common Rail technology and cooled exhaust gas recirculation as well as an exhaust box with an integrated SCR system and closed particulate filter. As already familiar from the heavy-duty model series, the new Atego also boasts the FleetBoard EcoSupport concept to increase economy yet further,” Daimler said in a statement.

The new Atego will premiere at the April 2013 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, UK and at the Bauma Trade Fair in Munich, Germany, before distribution of the truck will commence start from 1 May, 2013.
