Daimler Trucks North America set for expansion

As part of its plans for further expansion, Daimler Trucks North America will increase production and hire an additional 1400 employees. Mt. Holly, Portland, and Saltillo truck manufacturing plants will add over 1230 employees to the company’s manufacturing and administrative payroll by the end of the year and the Gastonia parts plant will welcome a further 120 employees.

These additional positions will help the company manage the rising customer demand for its Freightliner and Western Star trucks. These hiring plans come after the company hired and additional 1300 people in its truck and parts facilities during the first half of 2011.

“Our manufacturing network is highly scalable and together with our component suppliers, we are fully prepared to handle current and projected order levels,” said Roger Nielsen, chief operating officer, DTNA. ‘

“We have the capacity and the leverage to meet customer delivery schedules despite the industry supply challenges associated with economic recovery and recent global events. We take great pride in our manufacturing workforce and in the proven performance, quality, and popularity of our vehicles.”
