CVIAQ to host 12th President’s Charity Dinner in 2014

The Commercial Vehicles Industry Association of Queensland (CVIAQ) President’s Charity Dinner will return in 2014, continuing its partnership with the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland. Over the previous eleven dinners, the CVIAQ has raised $1 million for the Leukaemia cause.

On 31 May 2014, the CVIAQ is planning to host its 12th President’s Charity Dinner with the net proceeds from the event going to the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland to support patients living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.

The Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland Chief Executive Officer, Bill Petch, said it is a privilege to be involved with the major charity event and continue the long standing partnership.

“Since its inception in 2002, the partnership between the Foundation and CVIAQ has raised close to one million dollars to support patients and families affected by blood cancer,” said Petch. “We are delighted to once again be the beneficiary of the President’s Charity Dinner which promises to be a fantastic evening and a highlight of the industry calendar.”

After taking a hiatus in 2013, the President’s Charity Dinner will return as a biennial event. Next year, the event will be held at a Brisbane CBD venue (probably City Hall) and will include a three course dinner, a live auction, a silent auction, raffles and entertainment. Tickets will cost $210 per person or $2,100 for a table of ten.

In recognition of the strong support CVIAQ has provided over the years, the Foundation granted naming rights to one of its patient transport vehicles and the auditorium at the Leukaemia Foundation’s Clem Jones-Sunland patient accommodation village in Coopers Plains, Brisbane. The Foundation also has displayed a plaque in its ESA village in Dutton Park, Brisbane, in recognition of the sponsorship CVIAQ provided for the construction of the village.

The Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation that receives no ongoing government funding and relies on the generosity and support of individuals, sponsors and business partnerships throughout Queensland.

The Foundation is committed to caring for people living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders by providing practical support to patients and their families including free accommodation, transport, counselling and education services. The Foundation also dedicates $1.2 million to medical research each year.
