Customer service talent celebrated at Isuzu gala event

Winners at the Isuzu Gala Awards.

Isuzu Trucks celebrated a record year, and its standing as Australia’s top selling truck brand, with a gala dinner held over the Brisbane Truck Show weekend.

It sold a record 13,360 trucks across Australia in 2022, with the company crediting its customer care and aftersales support for its continued success.

A generous incentive program called Team Elite, which encourages customer care excellence and has been running for more than 20 years, is just one of the ways Isuzu Trucks ensures it attracts the best sales, service and parts specialists, the company said.

The Team Elite awards were presented at the gala after the completion of the National Champion Sales Consultant competition, held at the Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) head office in Melbourne.

The event involved three leading sales consultants, from across the dealer network, who were tested on integral truck sale elements – product knowledge, brand, knowledge and truck model-specific knowledge.

Accumulating the highest points overall, Shane Hilder of Webster Trucks in Tasmania was crowned the winner.

“The Team Elite competition has been running for well over 20 years and has gone from strength to strength during that time, serving to highlight the incredible talent and dedication of the people working across the Isuzu networks,” said Crail White, IAL Head of Sales.

“This year we had even more reason to celebrate, as we held the awards for the first time at a gala event as part of our activities around the Brisbane Truck Show.”

In the Service Manager category, which recognised exceptional performance in attaining service goals and initiatives, accolades were offered to David Ireland of Major Motors (WA), Jonnie Arnel of Ballarat Isuzu (VIC), and Laurie Johnson from Gippsland Truck Centre (VIC).

The same criteria was applied in the parts category with Bobby Menechella of North East Isuzu (SA), Shaun Elliott of Central Isuzu (QLD) and Clinton Whelan of Gippsland Truck Centre (VIC) accumulating the highest points.

In all, more than 40 Isuzu Trucks dealer staff were recognised at the event.
