A new cruise control system now available in the new Mercedes-Benz Actros, Predictive Power Control, is designed to reduce fuel consumption by an additional three per cent.
According to Daimler, the system is familiar with the topography of the road ahead so can therefore respond in a way that will deliver the most fuel-efficient performance.
As the first GPS-based cruise control system, Predictive Powertrain Control intervenes to control speed and braking and can also regulate the transmission – therefore extending on the fuel-saving EcoRoll function, which is fitted as standard on the Actros.
