Since this time last year, Chinese production of heavy trucks has risen by almost two thirds and sales have increased by a massive 70 percent. While global sales of heavy commercial vehicles fell by around 22 percent in 2009, the Chinese heavy commercial vehicle market increased by 20 percent.
The participation of 117 Chinese manufacturers and suppliers as exhibitors at the 63rd IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Germany, running from 23-20 September further emphasises China’s strong market position.
At the event, the IAA will be devoting its ‘country spotlight’ to China today (Wednesday, September 29) with lectures followed by discussions on co-operation in the form of round table meetings. This is organised by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) together with its co-operation partners Management Engineers, China Auto Review and China Business Update, providing an up-to-date overview of the Chinese market and the challenges and potentials that manufacturers and suppliers face in China.
The focus is also on Sino-German co-operation and the ‘Political Flanking for Business in China’. The German Federal Foreign Office will use practical examples to show how its ‘External Economic Consultancy Task Force’ can support companies in their activities in China.
