Brad Close new VTA Industry Services Manager

The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has appointed Brad Close as Industry Services Manager.

VTA Chief Executive, Neil Chambers, said the Association was pleased to welcome Brad in the VTA team to help formulate and advocate policy positions, manage committees and provide advice to members as part of its executive team.

Close joins the VTA from Murray Goulburn Cooperative, where he was Regional Transport Manager responsible for the operation of over 75 heavy vehicles across six operational sites in Victoria and South Australia.

Previously, he held general freight management positions with Mannway Logistics.

At Murray Goulburn, he has also had responsibility for Safety and Compliance, CoR management and driver recruitment and training, as well as people and contract management roles.

“Brad has represented his employers on industry-level bodies including the South Eastern Australian Transport Safety Group and regional road safety groups to Associations such as VicRoads, WorkSafe and into Ministers' Offices – a great advantage in his role at the VTA,” stated Chambers.

“Brad's extensive transport operations management experience is first rate. He has come up 'through the hose pipe' in his career from motor mechanic and truck driver to senior transport manager, plus he has achieved a Diploma in Logistics along the way,” he said.

The appointment will be effective from 5 February 2014.
