Linfox has been awarded a five-year BP contract to handle the company’s metropolitan fuel delivery services in NSW.
Following a period of managed transition, Linfox will assume responsibility for BP’s fuel deliveries in Sydney and Newcastle from 1 April 2014. Much of this work was previously performed by Cootes Transport, which was not short-listed in the tender process.
BP Australia has begun implementing a new logistics strategy to support the delivery of some eight billion litres of fuel annually to its customers across Australia. The New South Wales region has been the first to be decided.
BP Australia’s new strategy has been under development since April 2013 and aims to have fewer, but larger, long-term contracts and is fully aligned with the BP group objective of increased rigour in contractor qualification, assurance and oversight.
“I am confident that this relationship with Linfox will provide BP and its business partners with best in class performance over the long-term,” said Geoff Gruebner, BP’s Head of Terminals and Logistics.
BP is one of the largest suppliers of fuel to Australia’s industrial sector has a nation-wide network of some 1,300 retail service stations.
