Borg Manufacturing bolsters in-house fleet

Somersby-based kitchen component supplier, Borg Manufacturing, has taken delivery of six new UD PK17 280 trucks fitted with push button Allison 3000 series automatic transmissions.

The new vehicles are slated for use to carry out local deliveries from Borg’s branches throughout Australia and join the 61 Isuzu’s already in the Borg rigid fleet.

The decision by Fleet Manager Cade Robinson to order the UD’s was influenced by the Japanese brand’s association with Volvo, as Borg currently operate 38 Volvo B-doubles in their fleet and have been impressed with Volvo’s strong after-sales support.

The new UD’s are the first full automatic trucks in the Borg fleet and have already proved popular with drivers who have to contend with metropolitan traffic conditions and multiple drops every shift.

The seven litre SCR engines develop 295 horsepower and have 883 Nm of torque available from as low as 1400 rpm.

Borg is a manufacturer of melamine panels and components for joinery applications and has manufacturing facilities at Somersby, Charmhaven and Oberon in NS, as well as branches in all states.
