Australian truck sales up for October

According to the Truck Industry Council’s report on new truck registrations for the month of October, the cab/chassis and prime mover market was up 10.1 per cent over the same ten month period of 2011, indicating a continued revival of the industry.

Isuzu topped the list registering 657 new units across all categories and now has a total year to date accrual of exactly 6,000 new trucks at the end of October and an enviable market share of 27.3 per cent. Isuzu’s sales growth in the year to date is slightly above the industry average at 10.5 per cent more than for the same period as last year.

In the heavy duty truck market, Kenworth posted a good October with 253 new units on the road, which brings their cumulative total for the ten months of 2012 to 1,906 – a very healthy 40 per cent increase over the same period in 2011.

For the purpose of this analysis CRT News refers to the statistics for new registrations of prime movers and cab/chassis trucks as provided by the Truck Industry Council and excludes statistics for registrations for new commercial vans.
