The Australian trucking industry’s leading national technical conference is set to have a bigger impact, with a new location and comprehensive program.
The Technology & Maintenance Conference (TMC), to be held on 14 and 15 October, will see a convergence of technical professionals, fleet and workshop managers, technical regulators, mechanics and service technicians from across Australia.
With its main focus on providing valuable technical information to industry stakeholders, the Australian Trucking Assocation’s annual forum will enable attendees to stay up to date, avoid breakdowns, and potentially save thousands of dollars through better maintenance and purchasing.
TMC25 will be hosted at a new venue – the Victoria Pavilion, Melbourne Showgrounds, which promises to offer bigger exhibition spaces and a larger workshop area.
Attendees will be greeted with a greater space for truck and trailer workshops, as well as expanded networking areas.
The TMC program is separated into plenary, breakout and workshop sessions, offering a wide range of industry-relevant and practical topics, including ‘Using e-trailers to reduce fuel burn’, ‘Hydrogen trucks and refuelling’, ‘More productive trucks with fewer permits’ and ‘Smart suspension choices for safer, more productive fleets’.
There will also be the more colourful ‘Hauling high performance Supercar beasts’, with road-train driver, Casuarina Smith, a session on ‘Unlocking neurodiverse talent in the workplace’ and ‘Working with TAFEs to get training results’.

A highlight of TMC25 will be the presentation of national trucking industry awards, including the Craig Roseneder Award for Technical and Maintenance Excellence, sponsored by Castrol.
The award recognises technical and maintenance excellence in the industry and celebrates the people who work behind the scenes to keep the industry’s workshops running.
The award finalists are:
- Chris Montgomery, CMV Truck & Bus (Derrimut, VIC)
- Scott Gardiner, Australia Post Group (Chullora, NSW)
- Thomas Kenny, Multiquip (Oran Park, NSW)
The other award to be presented will be the National Training Excellence Award, sponsored by BP, Castrol and the NHVR.
This award recognises transport operators with a strong and demonstrated commitment to training and development, thereby improving safety for all. The finalists are:
- Divall’s Earthmoving Bulk Haulage (Goulburn, NSW)
- Pilbara Heavy Haulage Girls Group (Wonthella, WA)
- Stef’s Transport (Millicent, SA).
Another award to be showcased at the TMC’s Castrol Awards Dinner on 15 October will be the Cummins Young Tech Award.
Formerly known as the Cummins Scholarship, the Cummins Young Tech Award recognises young talent in the workshops of Australia’s trucking industry.
Sponsored by Cummins since 2013, this initiative supports the next generation of apprentice and full heavy vehicle mechanics and service technicians.
The winners of this award, Thomas Bevan of Mildura Truck Centre, Mildura; James Beaven of Murrell Freight Lines, Dapto; and Jake Wilesmith of Brennan’s Quarries of Tumbarumba, have been chosen and will be introduced on the night.
