The ATA has launched new editions of two industry Technical Advisory Procedures (TAPs) relating to low voltage electrical wiring and certified load restraint curtain systems.
ATA Chair Mark Parry launched the updated TAPs in his opening address at the official opening of the Association’s 2025 Technical and Maintenance Conference (TMC 25), held in Melbourne on 14 and 15 October.
“Our TAPs provide industry with best practice guidance that goes beyond the legal language of the design rules and in-service regulations,” Parry said.
The new edition of the electrical wiring TAP provides best practice advice on:
- The electrical performance of truck charging systems
- Voltage distribution
- Current draw and load at connectors
- Suitable wiring gauge choices
- Connector maintenance, and
- Incandescent and LED lamps.
The load restraint curtain TAP explains the certification requirements for CLRCs and how to use and maintain them.
“It tells you how to weld damaged curtains and goes into the specifics of how to restrain loads on Euro pallets, which are rectangular rather than square,” Parry said.
The updated TAPs were developed by the ATA’s Industry Technical Council.
