Allcar Towing Group has grown its Isuzu-exclusive fleet with the recent addition of an Isuzu FRD 110-260.
The Melbourne-based towing service, purchased and directed by Mile ‘Milo’ Atanasov in 2011, tends to a range of work — vehicle accidents and breakdowns, transporting luxury cars, towing boats, moving shipping containers and machinery and even delivering new vehicles for car dealerships.
These tasks require Allcar Towing Group’s Isuzu fleet to be properly equipped for heavy lifting — enter the new Isuzu FRD 110-260.
Featuring a GVM of 11,000kg, a GCM of 20,000kg and the installation of Allcar Towing Group’s body, the new Isuzu model is able to carry up to four and a half tonnes on board.
This capability is assisted by an Isuzu 6HK1-TCC six-cylinder engine which enables heavy towing, offering 181 kW of power at 2,400rpm and a torque of 761 Nm between 1,450rpm and 2,400rpm.
Additionally, the truck’s seven-metre-long tilt slide tray from Australian Trailer Manufacturers (ATM) allows the deck to be lowered flush to the ground, enabling direct drive-on and a smoother loading of broken-down vehicles.
According to Atanasov, these fittings are standard for his towing fleet.
“Every truck is built the same so that there are no differences between our Isuzu fleet,” he said.
“I want our drivers to have the same experiences across the board. The FRD 110-260 is a good-sized truck that allows us to service our customers for what they need, during the most stressful of times.”
The FRD 110-260 is specified with a six-speed Allison LCT 2500 fully automatic transmission, which helps to reduce distractions for drivers and removes the potential for excessive wear and tear on the truck’s clutch.
This automatic transmission also helps manage driver fatigue levels, contributing to Atanasov’s goal to ensure all National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and Chain or Responsibility (CoR) requirements are met by the business.
“We always stay up to date with compliance with the NHVR, as it’s very important for business operations,” he said.
“We want to play our part in the chain of responsibility on the roadways.
“This is also why we choose to buy brand new Isuzu trucks, because of the reliability and consistency of the product.”
The conditions of Allcar Towing Group’s Isuzu fleet are scrutinised by the Patterson Cheney Trucks dealership in Melbourne – particularly from Fleet Coordinator Nick Makalongo and veteran Service Manager Wayne Murphy – which provides the company with quality service as its trucks incur damages from towing heavy items and vehicles.
Atanasov has always been pleased with the collaboration of the two businesses and the services that the dealership provides.
“The relationship with Patterson Cheney and our Fleet Sales Consultant Brooke Griffin has gone from strength to strength as we continue to purchase vehicles,” he said.
“Patterson Cheney is assisting us with further expansion as we take on new towing businesses under the group and launch our car carriers built onto Isuzu cab chassis.
“The dealership has always gone out of its way to solve any issues, and I couldn’t be more appreciative of that.”
