Joint venture between Caterpillar and Navistar, NC2, has begun assembling its on-highway Cat Trucks for the Australian market at the Caterpillar facility in Tullamarine, Victoria.
The facility was also previously used to produce components for mining equipment, however the company has never produced mining trucks in Tullamarine. The decision to cease component manufacturing at this facility does not affect the locations where Caterpillar produces its mining trucks. Caterpillar continues to produce mining trucks in the United States and India as has been the case for many years. Caterpillar also manufactures underground mining equipment in Tasmania, where production continues.
In addition to assembly of on-highway vehicles, the Tullamarine facility continues to be used for logistics and other functions.
