The Australian Logistics Council (ALC) has announced it will hold a conference on Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and what it means to Australian businesses.
The inaugural ALC Supply Chain Safety and Compliance Summit will be held on Wednesday, 13 August at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Summit will include workshops on current and future ALC Safety Codes and will feature a discussion on how Chain of Responsibility operates under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).
According to the ALC, the council’s National Logistics Safety Code of Practice (NLSC) provides industry with a “simple, equitable and effective way to maintain and improve safety across the supply chain” and will be a main topic at the Summit as well.
“The Code is voluntary and sets out all participants’ responsibilities when they control or influence the movement of freight,” the ALC said.
“NLSC applies to the wide range of activities within the supply chain including legal compliance and chain of responsibility, fatigue, safe loads, speed management and equipment.”
The Summit is said to give industry an opportunity to hear from a range of expert speakers from both industry and government, who will discuss the steps that need to be taken to improve safety and compliance across the supply chain.
