Ainsleigh Thomas has recently announced her promotion to National Fleet & Equipment Project & Stakeholder lead at Australia Post.
Thomas has been involved with Australia Post for the entirety of her commercial transport career — entering the industry as a Postal Delivery Officer for the national service in 2015.
She has gone on to hold various managerial positions at Australia Post-owned delivery service, StarTrack, with the most recent being a six-month role as Fleet Control Manager.
Thomas paid tribute to StarTrack when announcing her promotion on social media, as well as the many figures she’s become acquainted with in her working career.
“A huge thank you to StarTrack, for taking a chance on a small-town country girl with big-city dreams,” she wrote.
“I’ll never forget the belief that was placed in me, and I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity to prove myself.
“To everyone I’ve crossed paths with along the way, thank you. Whether you offered support, advice or simply a listening ear, you’ve each helped shape my journey.”
Thomas also took the opportunity to recognise her specific linehaul experience with StarTrack as extremely formative in her work life.
“Working in overnight express linehaul has shaped me in ways I never expected,” she added.
“The urgency, the high-stakes decision-making and the adrenaline-fuelled problem solving has become part of who I am.”
These qualities will be well-tested in Thomas’ new role.
In addition to her decade-long work with Australia Post, Thomas’ contributions to the commercial transport industry also include her position as Director of Transport Women Australia Limited (TWAL), a role she has held for the last eight months.
The TWAL also recognised Thomas as the inaugural recipient of its Young Gunnette Award in 2024.
