Actros going global

Daimler Trucks is demonstrating its global production capability by commencing the manufacture of Mercedes-Benz Actros models in a plant in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. This is the third plant to build the trucks, as they are already built in the main plant at Worth in Germany and Aksaray in Turkey.

The plant in Brazil is also to produce a new truck for the Latin American market, the Mercedes-Benz Accelo. The company is expecting rapid growth in truck sales due to the expansion of construction, mining, agriculture and the oil industry in Brazil. Demand for heavy-duty trucks had increased 95% in the first five months of 2010 when compared to the same period last year.
