300 series surpasses sales expectations for Hino Australia

The Hino 300 4×4 series has exceeded sales expectations according to the commercial vehicle manufacturer. In the six months since it was available to purchase, it has captured 20 per cent of the light duty 4×4 market in that time.

The vehicle has seen positive uptake in the mining and emergency industries according to a statement released by Hino Australia. At the end of April it had increased its orders by 71 per cent on its April year-to-date target.

Bill Gillespie, General Manager Brand and Franchise Development, Hino Australia, said he was proud of the results, but it had not come as a surprise.

“In the west, our dealerships are meeting the demands of customers including mining and rental companies that want a light duty 4×4 truck with more power, more torque, more standard safety, more gears and more comfort,” said Gillespie.

At 7,500 Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM), the Hino 300 Series is the only 4×4 truck in Australia that comes with Vehicle Stability Control and reverse camera as standard features. Reported as being the safest Japanese-built truck in its class, the Hino 300 Series 4×4, comes with standard features including driver and passenger SRS airbags, cruise control, 4-wheel-disc-brakes and rear air-conditioning in Crew Cab models.

Gillespie said sales had surpassed forecasts in familiar markets and generated considerable interest in less known industries like agriculture and forestry.

“This 4×4 segment of the light duty truck market is expected to finish between 800 and 900 units at the end of 2018, which is an increase of over 33 per cent from 2017,” said Gillespie.

“Market interest and customer orders of the 300 Series 4×4 have been so strong that we have accelerated our forecasts for the next two calendar years significantly to meet market opportunities,” he said.
