Volvo Trucks has announced that it will supply Linfox with 100 new prime movers, consisting of a mixture of FM 11, FM 13 and FH models. All trucks for this order will be built locally at Volvo’s production facility in Brisbane, Queensland.
According to General Manager of Volvo Trucks, Gary Bone, safety, efficiency and the environmental compliance were key factors in Linfox’s decision. “This decision represents a major shift in suppliers for the company. We’re obviously very proud to be Linfox’s supplier of choice for this contract. For Linfox, safety, fuel efficiency and reliability are extremely important, and this order makes it very clear that the Volvo trucks are able to meet these requirements,” he said.
“It’s well known that safety is Linfox’s number one priority. Their ‘Vision Zero’ goals are something the whole industry should aspire to. As the international hallmark for vehicle safety, Volvo is a natural fit, and we’re happy to say that the extra ‘Safety High’ package we’re providing on the FH’s will make a significant contribution to Linfox achieving ‘Vision Zero’.
“Linfox’s customers also take environmental responsibilities seriously. They expect their suppliers to do so as well. All the trucks we’re supplying meet the Euro 5 emissions standards of course, and are at the extreme end of fuel-efficiency.”
CEO of Volvo Group Australia, Arne Knaben, added, “As a leading Australian logistics operator, Linfox sets the standard for the industry. Linfox’s values align perfectly with Volvo Trucks: they put safety, environmental care and quality first. The Linfox decision to buy Volvo trucks is a clear indicator that we are leading the way in the areas that really count.”
